GOVERNANCE
The
Society's affairs are carried out by its Active Members, and, in their behalf,
by its Officers and Council. The President and Vice--President are elected for a
two-year term. The Secretary-Treasurer is elected for a three-year term. The
Council includes four Councilors elected to staggered four-year terms; the two
most recent past Presidents; current officers and an elected Delegate and
Alternate Delegate to the House of Delegates of the American Medial Association
(AMA). This Council conducts SMCAF daily and interim affairs. The Assistant to

The Society has an Advisory Board, consisting of its Officers and the appointed Chair of its Committees. This group advises the Assistant Secretary and the Surgeons' General on any questions or requests submitted to it.
The Society's Delegate and Alternate to the House of Delegates of the AMA provide a window by which military medicine can participate in the body's deliberations and actions
